Russian forces launch rocket attack on Kramatorsk: one person reported killed

On Monday morning, January 22, another explosion echoed in the eastern city of Kramatorsk as Russia launched a missile strike on the city. As a result, some districts were left without electricity.

The shelling claimed one life; another woman was injured, Rubryka reports, citing Donbas News and a statement from the head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin.

"A powerful explosion occurred around 9:25. The administrative building is destroyed," Filashkin's statement said.

Later, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, reported, "One person died, and another was injured as a result of the morning strike on Kramatorsk."

He added, "We are determining the type of weapon used. At the impact site, a 49-year-old man was killed, and his 31-year-old daughter was injured."

The shelling led to power problems in one of the districts. Specifically, it's reported that Sotsmisto is partially without electricity due to emergency shutdowns.

Situation in Donetsk region

Russian forces continuously shell cities and villages in the eastern Donetsk region with no plans to seize the region. According to the Regional Military Administration, two people were killed, and four others were injured on Monday.

On the morning of January 22, explosions were also reported in Donetsk and Makiivka. Additionally, on January 21, Russian forces shelled the city of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region, causing casualties and destruction.

Russian forces target not only settlements under Ukrainian control. On January 21, temporarily occupied Donetsk came under fire. The market in the large residential area of "Tekstylnyk" was hit. As a result, 18 people died, and Russian occupiers predictably blamed the Ukrainian military for the shelling.

The so-called leader of the occupied Donetsk region claims that the market was attacked by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Sunday when there were many people there. Ukrainian authorities and the military have not yet commented on the Russian accusations.
