Western Khmelnytskyi installs shelter for 1,300 school's students
A school in the Khmelnytskyi region has been equipped with a shelter that can provide safety to 1300 people.
What is the problem?
Although Khmelnytskyi is far to the rear of the fighting, Russian forces are attacking the region with enviable persistence, both with missiles and drones.
As of the beginning of the great war, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, there were just over 21,000 civil defense structures, of which 74% were assessed as ready for their intended use, and 26% were not prepared at all.
Khmelnytskyi region is no exception. Most schools were not adapted for shelters and had to be either equipped or new ones built.
What is the solution?
The Krasylivska community repaired a school shelter and now can hide 1,300 people.
How does it work?
Almost $300,000 were spent on the storage facility.
The total area of the repaired shelter is 1,613.6 square meters.
"The repair work was done to a high standard. In general, this room can be used not only for air raids, it is functional and suitable for various educational and cultural events. So, we have one more safe space for schoolchildren," said the governor Serhii Tyurin.
The modern safe space for students will also be used for various educational and cultural events.
Similar shelter has been repaired in Kherson and authorities actively working to expand the network of simple shelters.
A comfortable shelter for 200 people was built in Kyiv with comfortable places to sit and sleep.
