Ukrainian government allocates over $400 mln to strengthen defense capabilities
The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated $400 million for the construction of engineering and fortification facilities, PM Denys Shmyhal says.
The funds will be allocated to specialized agencies and regional state administrations.
The key task this year is to strengthen defense capabilities, the Prime Minister says.
During the Government meeting on January 12, an additional $50 million was allocated from the reserve fund for the construction of engineering and fortification structures.
The government pledged $20 million from the state budget reserve fund to ensure the pace of construction of new defense lines. These funds will be used to purchase vehicles and engineering equipment.
The State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" has increased the supply of material to soldiers for the construction of fortifications.
The Cabinet of Ministers also approved a resolution developed by the defense ministry that expanded the list of government agencies that can purchase goods, works and services for the construction of military engineering and fortifications.
