Russian troops could have used a P-35 missile to strike Ukraine, military outlet Defense Express reports.

This missile was adopted in 1962, footage claims. The outlet states Russian forces used this commissioned rocket for the first time to attack Ukraine.

Footage shows the wreckage of the P-35, a missile of considerable size. It is 10 meters long and has a launch weight of 4 tons.

This missile is an anti-ship class, so it is likely that Russia was trying to hit targets in the southern regions of Ukraine.

According to Defense Express, it is difficult to recognize the P-35 in the wreckage in the photo. However, this missile has a very specific wing structure.

The P-35 is still in service with the Russian army and is a means of destroying the Redut coastal missile system.

Russia had one such complex on the island of Kildyn in the Barentsev Sea. Also, after the occupation of Crimea, another such complex came under Russian control.

It was not functioning before, but was restored in 2016.

It has a classical guidance system for that time – inertial on the marshaling section and an active radar homing head on the final section.

The missile is capable of hitting coastal targets. However, due to the guidance system, they would have to be radio-contrasted. This suggests that P-35 missile launches are similar in application to Kh-22 hypersonic missiles.

Ukraine's intelligence has preciously stated that as of January 2024, Russia produces about 115-130 strategic missiles plus 100-115 operational-tactical missiles.

Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Agency reported that 42 foreign-made parts and components were found in Russian Kh-59 aircraft missiles.

Russia has increased the production of Kalibr and Kh-101 missiles by 3-4 times, and has improved the use of missile weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles.
