Ukraine’s intelligence rules out possible switch to “blind defense” fearing Russia’s offensive

Vadym Skibitsky, Ukraine's intelligence spokesperson, ruled out the possible strategy of troops going into "blind defense" during winter campaign.

Russian forces will try to take advantage of any halts at the front, he says at the Davos forum.

"Our assessment is that the tactical level of hostilities will continue. No one is talking about a 'blind defense' now, let alone a ceasefire.

Russia will try to use any ceasefire to improve its tactical position and gain more capacity to resume or open new areas of combat operations."

Skibitsky said that combat operations will continue despite the difficult weather conditions.

"We simply cannot allow our territory to be lost due to inaction."

Bloomberg wrote that in Davos, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan was to convey to President Volodymyr Zelensky a message from White House Chief of Staff Joe Biden about changing the strategy in the war from offense to defense.
