Ukraine’s ombudsman calls for global collaboration to bring all Ukrainians home from Russia

The world's countries should urgently join in solving the issue of returning all Ukrainians home.

The Commissioner for Human Rights of Ukraine's parliament, Dmytro Lubinets, announced that at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which will last from January 15 to 19.

It should be noted that on January 14, 2024, Switzerland and Ukraine will hold the fourth meeting of advisers on national security issues within the framework of the Ukrainian Peace Formula in Davos.

"I had the honor of moderating the panel "Humanitarian direction of the Ukrainian peace formula: the struggle for the return of victims of violent displacement, including deported children and prisoners of war" at the fourth meeting of advisers on the implementation of the Peace Formula in Davos," the ombudsman said.

In his speech, Lubinets emphasized that 517 children and 2,828 adults are at home today, including only 150 civilians.

"And our task is to return everyone! Therefore, the international community should immediately consolidate its efforts in this direction," he said.

The ombudsman also brought up the topic of Ukrainian prisoners of war and the severe violation of international humanitarian law associated with their return. The inhumane treatment, torture, and executions that they faced while in detention were also discussed separately at the forum.

"Working in Davos is important for returning our people home and helping Ukraine. We expect and work for results," Lubinets added.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression, the soldiers of the enemy army have been taking Ukrainian children to the Russian Federation and the territories under their control. Ukraine created a map of the camps to which children were sent.

As reported, the Russian invaders are forcefully implanting aggressive Russian ideology in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

In addition, the national resistance reports that the Russian occupiers are detaining children in the temporarily occupied territories to put pressure on their parents.

It should be noted that after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine at the beginning of 2022, more than 2,400 Ukrainian children aged 6 to 17 were taken to 13 institutions on the territory of Belarus.
