Zelensky, Sunak visit wounded Ukrainian soldiers at Kyiv hospital

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and UK PM Rishi Sunak visited Ukrainian troops who are being treated in the Kyiv medical facility.

Zelensky also awarded the soldiers, he reports in his Telegram.

"The greatest desire of Ukrainian defenders is to defeat the Russian aggressor. The people of Ukraine are fighting for this every day. The entire free world is united for this." 

Ukrainian and British leaders asked the defenders on their origin city, their point frontline and the cause of the wound.

The chief physician told in detail about the treatment of each of the soldiers. Zelensky also asked the soldiers about their health, living conditions and urgent needs.

The soldiers told the UK President they had served in the Kupyansk and Zaporizhzhia sectors and near Avdiivka.

They said they wanted to get back on their feet as soon as possible.

Some said they plan to return to service after recovery. But their greatest wish is for Ukraine's victory over the Russian aggressor.

Zelensky thanked the soldiers for the defense of Ukraine and wished them a speedy recovery.

Soldiers were awarded with national Orders of Courage awards, for their personal courage, selfless actions in the defense of the state, and loyalty to the military oath.

In memory of the meeting, Zelensky and Sunak left their signatures on the Ukrainian flag.

Medics make every effort to save the limbs of soldiers in difficult cases.

They also prepare servicemen for prosthetics, select prostheses for them and teach them how to use them.

Soldiers have a swimming pool, a wrestling and jiu-jitsu room. Considerable attention is paid to social rehabilitation after their injuries.

"We see how our country is believed in, how our people are respected. This was achieved thanks to the courage of each and every person who was not afraid of the enemy. Thanks to the strong support of partners like Britain, who add strength to the battle for freedom,"

Sunak's visit to Ukraine

The UK PM arrived in Kyiv on January 12 to pledge another military aid package to Ukraine.

Both states signed a 10-year security agreement between Ukraine and the UK.

Sunak spoke at the parliament, pledging "London will never leave Ukraine in trouble."
