Ukrainian air defense downed 8 out of 40 Russian targets overnight
Russian forces launched a missile attack on the regions of Ukraine, using 40 cruise, aeroballistic, ballistic, aviation, anti-aircraft guided missiles and strike drones.
Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed eight targets, most were missed due to the work of Ukrainian electronic warfare systems.
The Ukrainian military spotted 40 enemy air attack targets:
- Seven S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles from Belgorod region – Russia;
- Three Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs from Kursk region;
- Six X-47M2 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles from six MiG-31K aircraft (launch area – Tambov);
- up to 12 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles from 11 Tu-95MS strategic bombers (launch area – the Caspian Sea, Russia);
- Six X-22 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 bombers from Bryansk region – Russian Federation;
- Six "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles from Dzhankoy and Chauda areas – Crimea;
- Two X-31P guided missiles from two Su-35 aircraft (launch area – occupied Kherson region);
- Four X-59 guided missiles from two Su-34 aircraft (launch area – Bryansk region – Russia).
The Air Force destroyed seven Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles and one Kh-59 guided missile.
"More than 20 of the listed air attack vehicles that were not included in the statistics of downed aircraft did not achieve their targets due to active counteraction by electronic warfare!"
Russian forces made another attempt at a massive missile strike. Tu-95 bombers fired cruise missiles into the country from the Caspian Sea region.
Subsequently, a MIG-31K, a carrier of the Kinzhal missiles, took off in Russia. An alert was raised throughout Ukraine.
After a while, the Russians launched several more fighters. These included launches of Kinzhal missiles.
The missiles were heading toward Dnipro, Kyiv, Rivne, and Kryvyi Rih, and cruise missiles were heading toward the western regions. The Air Force also announced the launch of X-31P missiles toward Kherson region.
According to the monitoring groups, Russian forces used six Tu-95MS aircraft, six Tu-22M3 aircraft, five MiG-31K fighters, and Su-34/Su-35 jets.
