£200 mln from UK aid to be spent on Ukraine's drone production – defense minister
£200 million pounds of the UK defense aid package to Ukraine will be spent on reconnaissance, long-range and maritime drones, says defense minister Rustem Umerov.
Previously, PM Rishi Sunak has announced a new £2.5 billion defense aid package for Ukraine, being the largest since the start of the full-scale war.
The UK will also provide an additional £18 million of humanitarian aid, in addition to the £340 million already allocated.
The aid is to overcome the consequences of Russian air strikes and strengthen the protection of energy infrastructure.
For the first time, the defense ministry has formulated the need at the level of Ukrainian forces planning to purchase up to 1 million drones in 2024.
