British intelligence estimates that FPV drones, used in conjunction with artillery, have been effective in hitting Russian military vehicles, resulting in the destruction of approximately 90% of Russian military equipment in the Krynky sector, according to a Russian military blogger.
"The inability of Russia to counter FPV drones is likely due to a lack of Russian electronic warfare capabilities in this area," said the UK Ministry of Defense.
Military Operations on the Left Bank of the Dnipro
In November 2023, it was known that Ukrainian forces had established themselves on the Kherson region's left bank, occupied by Russian troops. They have maintained their stronghold and resisted constant attempts by enemy forces to dislodge them.
In recent months, efforts have been ongoing to expand the stronghold on the left bank. Ukrainian drones lay mines on roads at night, targeting Russian vehicles and other transport with ammunition in the mornings.
Another attack resulted in significant losses for the Russian 104th Air Assault Division, described as "unique specialists." Military expert Oleksandr Musienko sees this act as a sign of desperation, as the Russians have been unable to displace Ukrainian forces on the right bank for several months.
Analysts from ISW highlight that Russian forces are requesting not to move equipment into Krynky, as up to 90% gets destroyed even before reaching the area.
Russian troops consistently shell Kherson and its surrounding areas. The severity of the attacks on the right bank is so significant that President Volodymyr Zelensky directly oversees the situation.
On January 10, Russian forces in the temporarily occupied left bank of the Kherson region lost 18 soldiers, three boats, and two howitzers.
As of January 12, the total losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion amount to 368,460 troops.
