Solutions to win: Irpin completes restoration of multi-storey house destroyed by Russian hostilities

Ukrainian fund for the elimination of the aggression consequences is completing major repairs to an apartment building in Irpin that was severely damaged during Russian hostilities in the spring of 2022.

Restoration work has been completed by 90%, Kyiv administration reports.

What is the problem?

During the first Russian invasion in 2022, Irpin was destroyed by 75%, and over 10,000 people were left homeless. Authorities declared 37 apartment buildings as uninhabitable.

A 15-apartment residential building in Irpin was also heavily damaged during the fighting in the spring of 2022. The roof was destroyed, the walls and facade were damaged, and windows and doors were smashed due to Russian artillery fire.

What is the solution?

The overhaul project, the high-rise building, aims to completely restore the destroyed structures, install new windows and doors, replace utility networks, and place new water meters.

Authorities plan to carry out internal repairs and insulate and decorate the facade.

How does it work?

The reconstruction began in the fall, when the destroyed structures were dismantled, and the roof, exterior walls, and interior restorations began.

The works are now 90% complete. Construction workers are laying tiles in the stairwells. Subsequently, they will start installing interior doors, plumbing, and removing construction waste.

Authorities state that 97 objects will be restored at the expense of the state fund, 56 of which are commissioned, such as residential buildings, educational institutions, and shelters.

Irpin restoration

The reconstruction of the city destroyed by the Russian occupiers is actively underway. A new bridge over the Irpin River was officially opened in the village of Romanyvka, Kyiv region, to replace the one that had to be destroyed at the beginning of Russia's full-fledged invasion.

Irpin Lyceum No. 3, rebuilt at the expense of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and other sponsors after extensive damage caused by Russian shelling, was reopened in the war-battered Kyiv region.

Before that, on August 24, the city opened the restored Ruta kindergarten, which the Russians destroyed. Lithuania covered all the costs of its reconstruction.
