Ukraine-NATO Council to hold emergency meeting on Russian missile attack

The Ukraine-NATO Council serves as a forum for consultations between Ukraine and member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance at various levels. Key topics of discussion in these meetings include security issues, particularly Russia's war against Ukraine.

On January 2nd, Russian troops launched 35 drones over Ukraine during the night, all of which were intercepted. Later they targeted the cities with various missiles. The AFU chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi said air defense forces shot down 72 missiles, including all 10 Kinzhals.

On December 29th, Russian troops carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, using approximately 160 missiles of various types, excluding Kalibrs. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted 114 enemy aerial targets during that incident.

NATO responded to the missile and drone terror from Russian occupiers, strongly condemning the attacks on peaceful cities and civilian objects in Ukraine.
