Lithuanian president calls for urgent transfer of more air defense systems to Ukraine after Russian missile attack

After a massive missile attack by the Russian Federation of Ukraine on January 2, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda called on Western partners to immediately transfer more air defense systems to Ukraine.

The head of Lithuania reported that on X.

"Civilian deaths, destruction& Kremlin's terrorism continues. Ukrainians do wonders with the air defense the West has provided, but they need more. Air defense systems to Ukraine NOW!," urged Nauseda.

It should be noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, explained what steps the world should take after such a massive Russian attack on Ukraine.

"Putin is intensifying terror against Ukraine. Today was the second massive missile attack in just four days. Civilian infrastructure was damaged, and children were injured and killed.

We expect that all states will resolutely condemn the attacks and take decisive measures," the head of the foreign policy department emphasized.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine believes that five steps can be taken right now:

• accelerate the provision of additional air defense systems and ammunition to Ukraine;
• provide Ukraine with combat drones of all types;
• provide Ukraine with long-range missiles with a range of 300 km+;
• approve the use of frozen Russian assets to aid Ukraine;
• isolate Russian diplomats in their respective capitals and international organizations.

For reference:

On the night of January 2, Russian troops launched 99 missiles of various types over Ukraine, of which 72 enemy air targets were shot down.

Only during the massive enemy attack on the capital did the forces and means of air defense hit all enemy UAVs of the Shahed type, more than 60 Kh-101/Kh555Kh-55 missiles and 10 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal.

Also, the occupiers released 35 attack drones on the territory of Ukraine: the air defense forces destroyed all enemy targets.

As a result of a massive enemy missile attack on Kyiv and the region, three people died, and 49 people were injured. There were two deaths in the capital itself and two in the region.

Furthermore, it was later revealed that the Russian Federation had launched four strikes in the heart of Kharkiv. The January 2 missile attacks by the Russian Federation caused injuries to 41 individuals and tragically took the life of one woman.
