Ukraine’s energy system remains stable in face of attack, no critical threat detected – Ukrenergo

The massive missile attack by the Russians on January 2 did not harm Ukraine's energy system; it works in a balanced way.

Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the chairman of the board of National Power Company "Ukrenergo," reported that on the air of the telethon.

"Today's attack, although it brought us some difficulties, did not pose a critical threat to the power system. Therefore, we cannot talk about introducing a state of emergency today," Kudrytskyi said.

According to him, the energy system works in a balanced way. In the morning, specialists were engaged in eliminating local consequences of strikes at energy facilities.

"I was at one of the affected facilities. All the equipment there is already in operation. If someone in Kyiv still does not have electricity, it will be a matter of a few hours," added the head of Ukrenergo.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, it should be noted that due to the massive missile attack in Kyiv, an overhead line was damaged, several substations were without voltage, and 259,000 consumers were cut off.

In the Kyiv region, high-voltage lines were de-energized due to shelling, and consumers were disconnected in the Bucha and Vyshhorod districts. The substation equipment was also de-energized. In addition, there were temporary disturbances in the operation of the HPP.

According to DTEK [largest private investor in the energy industry in Ukraine – ed.], as of 11:40 a.m., energy workers have recovered part of the residents of Sviatoshyn, Shevchenkivskyi, Obolon, and Podil districts of Kyiv after a rocket attack on the capital. Kurenivka, part of the Obolon and Sviatoshyn districts, remains without power.

As reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, as of noon, power supply to water supply facilities was restored in all districts of the capital.

On the night of January 2, Russian troops launched 99 missiles of various types over Ukraine, of which 72 enemy air targets were shot down.

Only during the massive enemy attack on the capital did the forces and means of air defense hit all enemy UAVs of the Shahid type, more than 60 Kh-101/Kh555Kh-55 missiles and 10 Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal."

Also, the occupiers released 35 attack drones on the territory of Ukraine: the air defense forces destroyed all enemy targets.
