Russian forces strike civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv, causing casualties

On the evening of December 30, Russian troops attacked the center of Kharkiv, as a result of which civilian infrastructure was damaged.

The Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the Kharkiv Region Police reported that on Telegram.

"Strikes on a residential building in the center of the city. Serious destruction, fire. Information about the victims is being clarified. There is also destruction of civil infrastructure," Terekhov said.

Oleh Synehubov, head of the regional military administration, reported eight victims.

"At this moment, doctors are assisting eight victims; all of them are hospitalized, four people are in moderate condition, and four are in light condition," he said.

Synehubov added that due to the Russian attack, there was damage to civilian infrastructure: medical institutions, multi-apartment residential buildings, shops, and other public places, as well as transport.

All specialized services are working on the spot: doctors, rescuers, and law enforcement officers.

Later, it was clarified that the number of wounded had increased to 16, Ihor Terekhov said. Eight people were hospitalized as a result of the Russian strikes on Kharkiv, the head of regional military administration Synehubov reported data at 8:33 p.m. According to him, among the wounded in the apartment building is a 16-year-old boy; he has a shrapnel wound and is in moderate condition.

According to the head of the Prosecutor's Office of the Kharkiv region, Oleksandr Filchakov, among the wounded is a minor child, as well as a foreign journalist.
