Ukraine and 30 states request urgent meeting of the UN Security Council due to Russia's missile attack

Ukraine and 30 other countries want to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council after Russia's massive attack on civilian targets in Ukrainian regions on December 29.

The following statement was made by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

Earlier in the bomb shelter, Kuleba had a conversation with the EU High Representative Josep Borrell. Against the backdrop of a massive Russian attack, they agreed to step up efforts to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

The UK announced an urgent delivery of missiles to Ukraine's air defense systems after a massive Russian missile strike.

Russia's largest missile attack on Ukraine

During the night of December 29, Russian forces launched several groups of attack drones at Ukraine, and in the early morning, they fired missiles at most large cities.

Kyiv air defense downed most of the targets, however, a missile struck the local warehouse, killing nine civilians as of 7 p.m., police confirm.

The eastern city of Kharkiv was also struck with missiles, as citizens counted 22 explosions during the night attack. Authorities state the missiles killed three and injured 11.

Lviv, a western city in Ukraine, has residential buildings and a critical infrastructure site damaged in the attack. A Russian missile killed one person, and eight others are confirmed injured.

On the night of December 29, southern Ukraine was once again attacked by Shahed kamikaze drones that hit an infrastructure facility in Odesa, and a high-rise building.

Two people were killed and many wounded in Odesa as a result of a Russian missile attack.

In the morning, Russia attacked another city, Zaporizhzhia. Businesses, high-rise buildings and a private house were hit. Two people were killed and there are injured. There may also be people still under the rubble.

In total, on the night of December 29, the Russian occupiers launched 158 missiles and kamikaze drones at Ukraine. The air defense system shot down more than 100 enemy targets.
