Ukrainian Security Service has destroyed over 500 Russian tanks in combat over the past year
Since the beginning of 2023, special combat units of Ukraine's Security Service have destroyed over 500 Russian tanks that tried to break through the Ukrainian positions, the press release says.
The destroyed Russian tanks also include the latest T-90 and T-90M tanks, which cost almost 5 million dollars each.
"First of all, the occupiers used this equipment as part of the so-called "armored fists" to assault Avdiivka and Bakhmut.
The invaders also used heavy armored vehicles to deter counter-offensive operations of Ukrainian defenders at the Melitopol and Berdiansk fronts," the security forces said.
The destruction of the Russian tanks is the result of joint actions by both SSU units and Ukrainian forces. An arsenal of anti-tank weapons and modern unmanned aerial vehicles were used to maximize the damage.
On December 26, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled 44 Russian attacks on the Avdiivka, Bakhmut, and Marinka fronts, engaging in 88 combat clashes with enemy forces.
Previously, the tactical aviation successfully attacked a large landing ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet "Novocherkassk." The vessel is known to have been carrying Shahed drones to attack Ukrainian cities.
Russian forces appear to be in control of most, if not all, of Marinka despite the fact that there was no visual evidence of the full capture as of December 26.
