Russian forces execute Ukrainian prisoners of war again near Tokmak

Russian forces shot a group of Ukrainian National Guard soldiers in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into the shooting of Ukrainian soldiers, Rubryka reports, citing the Office of the Prosecutor General and volunteer Serhii Sternenko.

Sternenko says this incident occurred a few days ago in the Zaporizhhia region on the Tokmak front.

"These are horrific scenes, and the world needs to see them. Russians shot Ukrainian prisoners," said Sternenko.

In the photos he published, soldiers are seen with their hands tied behind their backs and then killed. Judging by the chevrons, these were National Guard soldiers.

Sternenko added that Ukrainian defenders "quickly retaliated" against the Russian occupiers who executed the prisoners, and a significant part of the Russian troops, whose formations executed the prisoners, had already been destroyed.

He also published images of the Russian crime. Warning: Graphic content, 18+.

In turn, the prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into the shooting of Ukrainian prisoners by the Russian forces near Zaporizhzhia.

According to the investigation, Russian military personnel, during a December 2023 skirmish with the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the settlement of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, took three Ukrainian defenders captive.

An hour later, in violation of Article 3 of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Russian occupiers executed them.

A video of this incident appeared and circulated on the Internet.

"Under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, a criminal investigation has been launched into the violation of laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder," said the department.

Earlier, during a session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry into Events in Ukraine, Erik Møse, reported that the Russian military tortured prisoners to death in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Russian occupiers committed another war crime on the Avdiivka front near Stepove.

"The enemy entered the positions of the 45th separate rifle battalion. During the sweep, the occupants found a dugout where our guys were sitting. They were forced to surrender due to a lack of ammunition. As soon as the second soldier came out, … they just shot them both," the report said.

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets also responded to the situation, intending to address international organizations through this video. He also hopes that intelligence will be able to physically identify those responsible.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine also confirmed information that Russian invaders shot two unarmed Ukrainian soldiers.

Also, on March 12 of this year, the Security Service of Ukraine finally identified and officially confirmed the identity of the Ukrainian defender, whom Russian invaders shot for saying "Glory to Ukraine."
