Solutions to win: Ukrainian engineers unveil revolutionary EW-proof electric UAV for strike-reconnaissance missions
A team of Ukrainian engineers has created a stealth reconnaissance electric drone known as the Jupiter Hunter–1, designed to withstand interference from electronic warfare and jamming devices.
DEFENDER.ARMY reported this.
What is the problem?
In the war with Russia, drones of various directions and qualifications play an important role.
Drones are the eyes of the Ukrainian military. Intelligence is the most critical type of ensuring military operations.
UAVs allow defenders to conduct reconnaissance along the entire front line, detect Russian forces and enemy equipment, and remotely adjust artillery fire.
The drones see the Russians in the thermal imagers, and the Ukrainian military ensures they are no longer visible there. Reconnaissance by drones successfully helps perform tasks in battle. However, UAVs can be jammed by EW, causing the drone to lose control and direction.
What is the solution?
That's why Ukrainian engineers have created the Jupiter Hunter-1, a quiet electric drone not vulnerable to electronic warfare and jamming equipment for strike and reconnaissance purposes.
It can be used for aerial surveillance, reconnaissance, forensics, acquisition and transmission of aerial photographs, and cooperation with ground operations forces.
How does it work?
The DEFENDER.ARMY group of companies developed the drone.
Engineers say that this drone doesn't need a runway thanks to its fixed wing and vertical takeoff/landing capability.
According to the advocates, this guarantees practical work in difficult places and areas with a high population density.
It can carry up to four munitions in one flight with the help of a universal load-shedding mechanism.
On average, the cost of such a drone is about $50,000. Its high-speed FHSS mode avoids the effects of EW and jamming agents.

In propeller mode, stable flight is supported in orientation and hover modes. With a payload of 10 kg, the drone can operate for 1.5 hours, making flights over a distance of 150 km.
With a load of 2 kg, the working time increases to 3.5 hours, and the flight distance – up to 350 km. The maximum range of radio control is 150 km, and it is unlimited when using the Starlink system.
Technical characteristics of Jupiter Hunter-1:
- Maximum take-off weight: 34 kg
- Wingspan: 3914 mm
- Length: 1920 mm
- Battery: 6S 32,000 mAh
- Maximum recommended payload: 10 kg
- Cruising speed: 75-90 km/h
- Maximum speed: 120 km/h
- Maximum working altitude: < 4500 m
- Support for GPS, Galileo, and BDS systems
- Number of channels: more than 120
For reference:
As reported at a press conference on December 19, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that in 2024, Ukraine will produce one million drones for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
For his part, Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries, said that by 2024, Ukraine plans to produce 1 million FPV drones, more than 10,000 medium-range strike drones, and more than 1,000 drones with a range of 1,000 km or more.
In addition, Ukrainian scouts received an unmanned PD-2 complex from volunteers. This is a Ukrainian-made weapon.
