Ukraine's defense minister calls on Polish arms manufacturers to create joint ventures
Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov calls on arms manufacturers in Poland to sign direct contracts with the state companies.
Umerov met with the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorsky during his visit to Kyiv. He congratulated the Minister on his appointment and expressed gratitude to the people of Poland for the huge assistance provided to Ukraine.
Umerov also revealed the results of his first 100 days in office.
According to the ministry, he called on Polish arms manufacturers to conclude direct contracts with Ukrainian companies and create joint ventures.
"Ready to discuss our agenda over the phone and during face-to-face meetings," said Umerov.
Ukraine's Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn said that despite the increase in ammunition production at domestic plants, the state needs supplies from partner countries.
The German arms maker Rheinmetall and the Ukrainian Defense Industry officially announced establishing a joint venture.
Also, next year, Ukraine will start joint production of howitzers with a British company.
Previously, top EU official Josep Borrell said that Ukraine had received hundreds of thousands of artillery shells from the EU countries and may not be able to deliver the promised million rounds of ammunition by the end of 2023, as planned.
