Russian drone attack damages granary and infrastructure facility in Ukraine’s south

In an attack during the night of December 22, a drone hit an infrastructure facility in the southern Mykolaiv region, and in the Odesa region, drone fragments fell on a grain storage facility. 

Fires broke out, but thankfully, there were no casualties, Rubryka reports, citing the Southern Defense Forces and Vitalii Kim, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

The Ukrainian forces reported the destruction of 17 Shahed-131/136 drones launched from the occupied Crimea:

• Ten drones in the Mykolaiv region,
• Four in the Kherson region,
• Three in the Odesa region.

These attacks resulted in hits. In the Mykolaiv region, a fire broke out on one of the infrastructure objects, but it has since been extinguished, and no one was harmed.

The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that the hits and fires on the infrastructure object occurred in the Voznesensk district. Detailed information is being clarified.

In the Odesa region, the Russians attempted to target port infrastructure, but anti-aircraft defense forces responded effectively. However, debris from the downed UAV damaged a grain storage facility, causing a quickly contained fire. No casualties were reported.

According to Kim, the Russian forces conducted a mass attack on the region. The air raid warning lasted almost 2.5 hours. 

The Russians also targeted the Kyiv region with UAVs, and anti-aircraft defense forces actively intercepted targets. There were no hits on critical infrastructure.

In one area of the Kyiv region, three private homes were damaged due to falling debris. A fire broke out in one of the unfinished houses, which was promptly extinguished. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.

Night drone attack on Kyiv and surrounding areas

On the night of December 22, the Russians launched a massive attack using Shahed drones on several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv. Around 23:30, powerful explosions were heard in Kyiv. Debris from the drones damaged residential buildings in three districts of the capital, resulting in two injuries.

Renowned ICTV channel host Andrii Kovalskyi lost his apartment due to the Russian drone attack on Kyiv.

It's noted that the air raid warning lasted almost 2.5 hours, and anti-aircraft defense forces actively engaged Russian targets.

Overall, during the night of December 22, Russian forces deployed 28 kamikaze drones over Ukraine, with anti-aircraft defense forces successfully intercepting 24 of them.
