Russian artillery shelling kills two civilian women in city of Nikopol

On Thursday morning, December 21, the Russian army launched an artillery attack on the city of Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing two civilian residents. 

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak, has confirmed two deceased women, aged 60 and 46, Rubryka reports.

Another 86-year-old man was injured, and rescuers pulled him out of the damaged building. The injured person was taken to the hospital.

In Nikopol, the shelling also caused damage to four private houses and three utility facilities and affected the power transmission line.

As reported, power outages are being implemented in the Nikopol district to mitigate damage to the infrastructure.

Situation in Dnipropetrovsk region

According to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, the Russian forces have been constantly attacking the region since the early days of the war. Heavy artillery strikes target Dnipro, Nikopol, and the communities of Manhanets and Chervonohryhorivka.

On December 16, Russian occupiers attacked the Nikopol district with artillery and drones. Three people were injured as a result of the attacks.

On the evening of December 9, Ukrainian Air Defense Forces shot down a Russian missile over the Kryvyi Rih district, leading to debris damaging a plant and cars.

It was also reported that on the morning of December 8, two people died as a result of a Russian missile attack. The number of injured due to the rocket attack in the Pavlohrad district of the Dnipropetrovsk region increased to eight people.

Night Drone Attack on Ukraine

During the night, 34 out of 35 attack drones were destroyed over Ukraine. Anti-air defense was active in the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytsky, Sumy, Poltava, Chernihiv, and Kirovohrad regions.

In the Mykolaiv region, fragments of shot-down drones fell on the warehouse of an agricultural enterprise, causing a fire that firefighters promptly extinguished. No casualties were reported.

Fragments also fell in the Kyiv region, causing a fire at a civilian enterprise, which was extinguished, covering an area of 1500 square meters.

Windows were shattered, and the walls of a 4-story building and two storage buildings were damaged. Fortunately, there were no injuries.
