Ukraine restores 850 medical facilities damaged by Russian attacks

During almost 22 months of full-scale war in Ukraine, it was possible to wholly or partially restore 850 medical facilities damaged by the Russian army. Most of them are in the Kyiv region.

The Ministry of Health press service reported this.

What is the problem?

The Russian forces continue to purposefully and systematically destroy Ukrainian hospitals, polyclinics, dispensaries, maternity, and other medical facilities, as well as terrorize the civilian population. The enemy is attacking and bombing the Ukrainian medical infrastructure, creating an additional burden on the health care system.

In particular, Russian shells and rockets destroyed a total of 195 medical institutions, which are not subject to restoration. Another 1,480 medical facilities were damaged.

The medical infrastructure of the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions suffered the greatest losses.

Also, the enemy damaged 103 emergency medical aid vehicles, destroyed another 253 vehicles, and captured 125 cars.

Today, one of the state's priorities is to provide Ukrainians with high-quality and affordable medical services.

How does it work?

That is why the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and its partners continue to work on restoring the Ukrainian medical infrastructure so that doctors can function fully and patients have access to the necessary medical services.

As of mid-December 2023, 446 medical facilities were fully restored in various regions of Ukraine, and another 404 facilities were partially restored. Most are in Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Kherson regions.
