Denmark provides €1 mln aid package to Ukraine

Denmark has decided to provide Ukraine with a new support package totaling 1 billion euros, announces the state's PM Mette Frederiksen.

The head of the Danish government has announced a new aid package for Ukraine at a press conference in Oslo. The official has mentioned that on Thursday, December 14, she will present the new support package to her parliament.

This statement was made against the backdrop of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the capital of Norway to meet with leaders from Northern European countries.

Denmark has become one of Kyiv's key allies in the fight against Russian forces. Just two facts can illustrate this thesis: Denmark is one of the two countries that will provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, and Denmark has been the best of all to hear President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's call for patronage of regional reconstruction.

The Scandinavian state has lent a shoulder to Mykolaiv and its region, burdened by the consequences of the partial occupation, the semi-circumcision of the city, and the occupiers' terrorism.

Copenhagen has already provided Ukraine with defense assistance amounting to around 2.8 billion euros following Russia's large-scale invasion.

The Danish government has also offered humanitarian aid to Ukraine, totaling 378 million euros.

In October, Denmark's Minister of Defense, Troels Lund Poulsen, mentioned the country's possibility of sending the first F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in the first quarter of the following year.
