Avdiivka in Donetsk region remains site of the most intensive fighting on Ukrainian front – British intelligence
During the last week, the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region continued to be the scene of the most intense fighting on the front in Ukraine.
The British Ministry of Defense reported this on the X social network with reference to intelligence data.
According to official Ukrainian data, about 40% of all combat clashes probably took place in this small sector on some days.
Russian offensive actions, as before, are characterized mainly by infantry attacks, often with the participation of "Storm-Z" units.
As noted in the summary, Ukrainian units probably conducted successful local counterattacks, depriving Russian troops of complete control over the village of Stepove.
Here, Russia is trying to capture Avdiivka and its well-protected industrial zone with one part of the pincer movement, writes British intelligence.

As a result of shelling and strikes by the Russian occupying forces in Avdiivka, Donetsk region, many residential buildings have been completely destroyed, there are huge holes in the courtyards due to enemy bombings, and the city itself is gradually turning into ruins.
In addition, the 53-second clip depicts the damaged military equipment belonging to the Russian army. Specifically, the footage shows a tank belonging to the invaders, which had fallen from the bridge and now rests on its side in the ravine.
The British Ministry of Defense notes that as a result of the assault actions of the Russian invaders during the attempt to take Avdiivka by assault, the losses of the occupation contingent almost doubled.
In total, the number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 339,850 soldiers.

According to the General Staff, on December 9, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 33 enemy attacks on the Bakhmut and Avdiivka fronts. In the direction of Melitopol, they continued to actively inflict losses and exhaust the enemy along the entire front line.
It is worth noting that the Russian invaders concentrated more than 40,000 troops on the Avdiivka front. Every day, the enemy loses 300-400 occupiers.
Today, in difficult weather conditions, the Russian invaders are intensifying their attacks and trying to seize the initiative before the presidential elections in the Russian Federation. In turn, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are entrenched in positions where they do not conduct counterattacks.
In total, on the last day, December 9, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated 700 invaders, so the total losses of Russian troops since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in human resources have already amounted to almost 339 thousand soldiers.
According to the Commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine's armed forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, the situation in the eastern direction of the front today is difficult; the occupying forces are advancing along the entire line of combat.
