United to win: Switzerland provides funds for six medical simulation centers

Switzerland financed the creation of six simulation centers in Ukraine, thanks to which future doctors will prepare to work with real patients.
This was reported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, Rubryka writes.
What is the problem?
One of the main factors of the population's high level of medical care is the country's quality of medical education. However, during training, future doctors face numerous problems of a material, technical, moral, ethical, and legal nature.
Medical students graduate from universities having perfectly mastered the theoretical part of medical science.
However, unfortunately, teachers are unable to fully provide the teaching of the practical part of skills and abilities at the patient's bedside in connection with the ethical norms of the doctor-patient relationship.
What is the solution?
However, taking advantage of modern advances in science and technology, it is possible to bridge this gap between theory and practice with the help of simulation centers.
With sufficient material and technical support, the simulation center provides students with a platform on which it is possible to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. However, such centers are pretty expensive.
Therefore, Switzerland decided to help and financed the creation of six simulation centers in Ukraine.
How does it work?
Thanks to the Ukrainian-Swiss project "Development of medical education," simulation centers for the training of doctors were opened in Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, and Chernivtsi.
In these centers, future doctors and nurses can practice their skills on special mannequins in conditions as close as possible to real work with patients.
"Here, we can recreate any complex scenario in a medical facility. If the students make a mistake, we'll repeat it as many times as necessary.
Because we can make mistakes here, but not in hospitals," said Volodymyr Pokhmurskyi, head of the Medical Simulation Center of the Lviv Medical Academy named after Andrii Krupynskyi.
In addition, such centers will help improve medical students' evaluation system.
With the help of new equipment, it is possible to record the process of performing certain skills and track the correctness of their performance.
Also, another rehabilitation simulation center, "Rehabilitation of war injuries," was opened on the basis of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine of UCU for master's students.
We will remind that the Netherlands handed over three modular Role 2 field hospitals and six medical evacuation vehicles to the Ukrainian army. With the support of the Netherlands government, the Dutch manufacturing company Hospitainer handed over property and medical equipment to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
In addition, Switzerland will transfer more than €100 million euros of aid to Ukraine. The funds will be used for demining and food.
