Another 146 Ukrainian citizens want to evacuate from Gaza Strip – ambassador

Ukraine has received an additional 146 requests from its citizens wishing to evacuate from the Gaza Strip.

Ukraine's ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniichuk, shared this during a televised marathon, Rubryka reports.

"We have received 329 permits for our citizens from Israelis and Egyptians. We managed to evacuate 259 people, of which 172 arrived in Ukraine. The rest decided to stay in Egypt or travel to Europe independently," he stated.

According to Korniichuk, since the cessation of hostilities and the successful evacuation phase, the embassy received an additional 146 requests from citizens.

"It's somewhat surprising because the vast majority of these citizens had permission to leave but didn't use it for various reasons," he explained.

Korniichuk noted that the current main task is to quickly obtain new permits and evacuate these individuals to the territory of Egypt.

"We have already submitted the documents for approval. The situation is under control with the president directly and the foreign minister. I am confident that by the end of the week, we will be able to evacuate a significant portion of these people who have expressed a desire to be evacuated," he continued.

The ambassador emphasized that the majority of those willing to evacuate are women and children.

Regarding the number of Ukrainians still in the Gaza Strip, the diplomat mentioned that there might be around five hundred.

As Rubryka reported, on November 8, Ukraine successfully evacuated the first group of its citizens from the Gaza Strip, totaling 43. Ukraine also assisted in evacuating Moldovan citizens.

On November 9, Ukraine received permits for 228 more citizens from the Gaza Strip.

During the night of November 11, another 11 Ukrainians exited the enclave. At that time, 145 Ukrainian citizens, evacuated from the Gaza Strip, arrived at Chisinau Airport, the capital of Moldova.

On November 24, eight Ukrainian citizens were evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Egypt. Subsequently, 26 Ukrainians were transported from Egypt to Moldova.
