Zelensky speaks with Sunak and Scholz on priority areas of defense cooperation
On November 30, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak and Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz: the main topic of the conversation was the priority areas of defense cooperation.
The press service of the president reported this, Rubryka informs.
According to the president's office, the Ukrainian leader thanked the United Kingdom for the constant defense and political support provided to Ukraine in the face of full-scale Russian aggression.
In view of the results of the visits to the front line in the south and east of Ukraine, Zelensky informed Sunak of the priority needs for strengthening the defense capabilities of Ukrainian soldiers and strengthening the air shield.
The parties also discussed further macro-financial support for Ukraine and coordinated steps on the eve of important international events.
In addition, the interlocutors separately touched upon the issues of Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.
Zelensky and Sunak noted the importance of the October meeting of advisers on national security and foreign policy in Malta. They discussed further steps in the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula.
In addition, the Head of State spoke with the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz.
In a telephone conversation, Zelensky thanked Scholz for the powerful "winter" defense package from Germany, which includes four IRIS-T systems. The parties discussed further defense cooperation.
The president also expressed gratitude for the long-term financial assistance program from Germany.
"Together with Germany's serious strengthening of our air defense, these are the best signals of unwavering support from your state. I really appreciate that all our agreements are being fulfilled," he said.
Zelensky and Scholz discussed the current situation on the battlefield. The president reported on his morning visit to Kupyansk, the Kharkiv region, as well as Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa the day before.
Separately, the head of state informed the interlocutor about:
- the security situation in the Black Sea,
- functioning of the grain corridor,
- measures necessary to further protect civil shipping in the region.
Zelensky thanked Germany for its participation in the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula, in particular for the delegation of the representative of Germany to the meeting of advisors in Malta and the readiness to join the next consultations.
The interlocutors coordinated positions on future bilateral and multilateral events at various levels.
