Two explosions recorded near two Ukrainian nuclear power plants — IAEA

IAEA experts who monitor the security situation at nuclear power plants in Ukraine report that several explosions were heard near the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant last night.

This is stated in a report published on the website of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rubryka reports.

"In western Ukraine, an IAEA team monitoring the situation at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) reported hearing several explosions in close proximity, over a 20-minute period late last night while in their quarters," the agency said.

The station was not directly affected, but the incident showed that while the war continues, all Ukrainian nuclear power plants remain in danger, said IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi.

"The whole world is mostly focused – and rightly so – on the very real dangers that the Zaporizhzhia NPP faces… because it is located on the front line," Grossi said, referring to the fact that this station is occupied by Russian troops. "But yesterday's event is a reminder that that we should not forget about other nuclear facilities in Ukraine, which are also potentially threatened by missile and other attacks."

According to the IAEA head, all nuclear facilities of Ukraine remain vulnerable, either directly due to possible missile hits or indirectly — if their power supply is disrupted.

As reported, on the night of November 29, the enemy attacked Ukraine with Shahed-type attack UAVs and X-59 guided air missiles.

On the morning of November 29, the Air Force reported that it had shot down Shahed drones in the Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions during the night.

As a result of a night Russian attack on November 29, the premises of an agricultural enterprise in the Khmelnytskyi region were damaged.

Earlier, it was also reported that IAEA experts recorded missile launches, most likely from a rocket salvo system from a close distance from the Zaporizhzhia NPP temporarily seized by the Russian occupiers.
