Russian troops shell Ukrainian thermal power plant in front-line region for the fifth time in a month

During the night of November 27, Russian forces shelled one of the thermal power stations of the energy company DTEK in a Ukrainian front-line region. 

According to DTEK, there were no casualties at the plant, Rubryka reports.

However, residents of a nearby town were left without electricity due to the shelling. The equipment of the enterprise suffered serious damage.

After the Russian shelling stopped, energy workers began to eliminate the consequences and are making every effort to restore power supply promptly, DTEK reported.

"We continue to do everything possible to support the reliable operation of the Ukrainian energy system. The company coordinates its actions with Ukrenergo [state electricity operator]," DTEK stated.

The company stressed that this shelling marks the fifth attack on one of the front-line DTEK thermal power stations in just over a month.

As reported by Rubryka, within the past 24 hours, Russians carried out one missile and 34 aviation strikes, along with 51 shelling attacks using multiple rocket launching systems.

On November 25, debris from downed drones amid a massive Russian attack damaged energy infrastructure facilities in the capital; 77 residential buildings and 120 establishments in the central part of Kyiv were left without power.

Also, following a Russian drone attack on the energy infrastructure near Odesa on the night of November 18, 2,000 Ukrainian families were left without electricity.

On the evening of October 30, occupying forces struck one of DTEK's thermal power stations in a front-line region, leaving a settlement in the Donetsk region without electricity.

Since the beginning of 2023, 34 countries have sent 496 humanitarian aid shipments to Ukraine for the energy sector, weighing 5,938 tons.
