Germany commits €300 mln to support Ukraine’s energy demands

Germany provides 300 million euros to help Ukraine in the energy sector.

German Ambassador Martin Jaeger announced this on Twitter (X).

"Building on our long-term partnership, Germany is providing Ukrenergo with more than 300 million euros of support for grid repair and modernization," he said.

According to him, Ukrenergo is one of the main beneficiaries of Berlin's contribution of 200 million euros to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine.

The ambassador also said he had a "fruitful" conversation with the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko.

"Germany has already allocated more than 625 million euros to support the energy system. Even more is in the process of preparation. In addition to the much-needed aid for repairs, we are increasing our support for developing decentralized energy," Jaeger summarized.

It should be noted, as previously reported by Rubryka, the transmission system "Ukrenergo" operator will receive a EUR 76 million grant from Germany to strengthen the protection of energy facilities and increase the reliability of power supply for consumers.

The funds will be directed to:

• financing the construction of engineering protection of substations,
• installation of new high-voltage equipment, in particular autotransformers,
• modernization of the network on the border with Europe.

In addition, Ukraine received powerful transformers from Japan.
