NATO Parliamentary Assembly and Ukrainian Ministry of Defense hold talks on bolstering Ukraine's armed forces

Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Mikhal Scherba discussed the upcoming NATO summit in Washington and strengthening the Ukrainian army.

The head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported that on Facebook.

"I had a productive meeting with the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Michal Scherba. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to adopt NATO standards and practices to strengthen the Ukrainian army. We exchanged views on the NATO summit in Washington," Umerov said.

It should be noted that US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin discussed the latest Russian air attacks and the priorities of military aid to the Ukrainian Defense Forces by phone with Ukrainian Defense Minister Umerov the day before.

In addition, on November 22, the 17th meeting of the Contact Group focused on coordinating international efforts to support Ukraine in the field of security and defense in wartime was held.

During the meeting, the partners announced the following assistance packages:

  • A new ground-based air defense coalition was formed. It was joined by 20 countries (Ground-Based Air Defense), the leaders being Germany and France.
  • Based on the recent visit of the German Minister of Defense to Ukraine, a total of 1.4 billion dollars in aid has been pledged. This includes IRIS-T systems equipped with guided missiles, 8,000 new anti-tank mines, one Patriot system unit, and additional ammunition for 155 mm artillery. It is expected that Ukraine will receive this aid by midDecember.
  • The Netherlands has prepared 2 billion euros for military aid to Ukraine.
  • IT Coalition Leader Estonia provides half a million dollars in funding for IT Coalition activities in addition to Luxembourg's €10 million commitment.
  • Britain and Norway will look for ways to strengthen security in the Black Sea as part of the Maritime Coalition.
