Kyiv air defense downed 55 Russian drones overnight: the attack injured five
On the night of November 25, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with a record number of 75 attack drones, mostly aiming them at Kyiv, the Air Force report says.
The air defense operated in at least six regions of Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kropyvnytskyi.
Anti-aircraft missile troops, tactical aviation, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units were involved in repelling the air attack.
"Due to the anti-aircraft battle last night, the forces and means of the Air Force, in cooperation with the air defense destroyed 71 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs. The vast majority of them were destroyed in Kyiv region. Also, an X-59 guided missile was downed in Dnipro region," the press release said.
Mykhailo Shamanov, a spokesperson of the Kyiv military administration, said that over 40 kamikaze drones were intercepted in the capital.
The military administration also emphasized that this is the fourth attack by Russian drones on Kyiv.
"This drone attack was the most massive since the beginning of the full-scale invasion! The alert in the capital lasted for more than 6 hours. It is symbolic that the Nazis (descendants of the totalitarian Soviet regime) carried out this attack on the Day of Remembrance of the Holodomor Victims. This is how they continue the genocide of Ukraine and Ukrainians," the spokesman emphasized.
On November 25, Russian kamikaze drones massively attacked Kyiv from night to morning: air defense systems actively downed targets, but fallen debris caused a fire to break out in a kindergarten and hit a five-story building.
The attack caused power outages in 77 houses throughout the city, and the fallen debris damaged civilian infrastructure. The raid left five injured, including an 11-year-old child.
