The Kyiv region received more than 760,000 energy-efficient light bulbs from the UAIM Humanitarian Fund and the Crimean Front, a joint initiative to support the Ukrainian forces.

What is the problem?

Since the beginning of the all-out war, Russia has been committing increasingly heinous war crimes, one of which is the targeted bombing of critical infrastructure. As of November 22, Ukraine's energy system experienced a shortage of electricity, so Ukrainians were urged to conserve the resource during the day.

The main reasons for the shortage are increased consumption due to the cold snap, increased accident rate of power plant units, and insufficient electricity imports from the EU.

The shelling has also caused new damage to the power grids in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions.

What is the solution?

The UAIM Humanitarian Fund and the Crimean Front, a joint initiative to support the Ukrainian forces  have handed over 767,800 LED lamps to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

How does it work?

All districts of the region have already received energy-saving lamps, being distributed to social, medical and educational institutions in the region.

Thanks to the support of volunteers who continue to help rebuild Kyiv region, schools and hospitals, as well as people who need it most, will receive energy-efficient light bulbs. This will reduce electricity consumption, which will reduce the burden on the energy sector in winter and save money.

The Ministry of Economy says that the share of the population in the structure of electricity consumption in Ukraine is 40%. Switching to energy-efficient lamps will reduce consumption by 7-10% at peak times.

On August 12, the Ministry of Energy reported that scheduled repairs at Ukraine's facilities are going according to schedule, but the worst situation with preparations for the new heating season is observed in the regions bordering Russia and in the frontline areas.
