Newly elected Argentine president invites Zelensky to host global peace summit
Argentina's new president, Javier Milei, has offered Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to host a summit with Latin American states to achieve peace in Ukraine, according to DW.
Milei held phone talks Zelensky and proposed that Argentina host a conference between Latin America and Ukraine, says his foreign policy adviser, Diana Mondino.
Argentina has offered to "become the headquarters of the event, if appropriate."
Ukraine's President thanked Milea for his "clear support" in the context of the Russian military invasion.
"There is no ambiguity between good and evil. Just clear support for Ukraine. We, Ukrainians, are aware of this and appreciate it very much," Zelensky emphasized.
As a reminder, the day before, the Ukrainian leader had a telephone conversation with the newly elected President of Argentina, Javier Milea.
"The interlocutors discussed possible cooperation between the two countries in investigating Russian war crimes in Ukraine, bringing the aggressor to justice, and post-war reconstruction," the statement said.
Zelensky invited Milei to continue Argentina's participation in the implementation of the Peace Formula, including sending a representative to the next meeting of national security and political advisers.
The President stated that Ukraine is interested in further developing relations with both Argentina and the South American region. He invited his interlocutor to join the preparation of the Ukraine-Latin America summit.
On October 28-29, a summit of the Ukrainian peace formula was held in Malta to secure "the widest possible international support" for President Volodymyr Zelensky's peace plan.
Representatives from over 65 countries attended.
China is not participating in the next peace summit, which "disappointed the Ukrainian leadership."
The first summit of the Peace Formula was held on June 26 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the second on August 6 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
At that time, Ukraine managed to attract not only direct partners and allies, but also representatives of the Global South, who take a neutral position on the war.
As reported, in November 2022, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a 10-point Ukrainian Peace Formula during a speech to the G20 summit, and preparations for the Global Peace Summit are underway.
