Russia has lost 36,000 troops over the past two months – Ukrainian defense minister

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported 36,000 Russian soldiers killed in action during offensive activities over the past two months, during the 17th defense-related meeting.

Umerov noted that Ukrainian forces, even lacking the absence of a powerful navy, had driven Russian warships out of the Black Sea and now are gradually restoring freedom of navigation.

"Russia definitely does not plan to stop on its own. The only language that Moscow can understand is force. And we have learnt this language well," the minister said, adding that since the last meeting in the Ramstein format six weeks ago, the enemy has lost almost 36,000 soldiers.

The weapons provided by allies, namely HIMARS, Storm Shadow, SCALP, ATACMS missiles and others, have changed the situation at the front. Further development of coalition capabilities, including artillery, armoured vehicles, aviation and mine action, will help protect millions of innocent lives.

Our people are waiting for the opportunity to return home. To rebuild their homes. To reunite with their families," Umerov added.

The defense minister thanked his colleagues for their daily efforts to support Ukraine. He also stressed that the personal role and involvement of Lloyd Austin in chairing the meetings within the Ramstein format is invaluable.

The 17th meeting of the Contact Group on Defence of Ukraine in the Ramstein format is attended by defense ministers from more than 50 countries.
