United to win: over 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have completed intensive training among 30+ partner nations
As of November 21, 2023, over 100,000 servicemen of Ukraine's armed forces have completed intensive training in training centers of more than 30 partner countries.
The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces, Major General Oleksandr Kyrylenko, informed about this at a briefing, according to "Interfax-Ukraine."
"This would not be possible without the support and help of partner countries. Thanks to joint efforts, an effective system of training of Ukraine's armed forces was created, which significantly supports and increases the capabilities of all components of the defense forces in repelling the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. We are grateful for this support," he said.
The head of the Main Department of Doctrine and Training (J7) of the General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces, Major General Oleksiy Taran, noted that a coalition of 32 partner states, which are organizationally part of two military auxiliary missions to Ukraine, are involved in organizational measures to train the personnel of Ukraine's armed forces abroad: Ukraine Security Assistance Group (SAG-U) and the EU Military Assistance Mission in Ukraine (EUMAM).
According to him, the current training system is focused on four basic priorities:
- basic general military training of newly recruited soldiers, i.e., people from civilian life, from whom in a relatively short period – 35 days – it is necessary to make full-fledged riflemen of infantry units;
- professional training – primarily for foreign models of weapons and military equipment, as well as specialists in scarce specialties (combat medics, sappers, snipers, operators of anti-tank systems, etc.);
- training of modern commanders-leaders, especially the junior ranks – commanders of departments, platoons, companies, as well as tactical instructors, who form the base of the instructor staff for the dissemination of advanced training methods directly on the training grounds of Ukraine;
- collective training of units of different levels and headquarters for their effective management, primarily for offensive and assault operations.
