France will allocate an additional €12 million for the urgent needs of Ukraine's healthcare system, says Health Minister Viktor Liashko during a meeting with the French Special Envoy for Relief and Reconstruction of Ukraine Pierre Elbrun.

The funds allocated by France for the next year will go to implementing mental health projects,
improved diagnosis of cancer, restoration of medical institutions in the Chernihiv region, and creation of a separate fund to purchase medical equipment in response to urgent needs.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed expanding the international medical partnership program launched in Kyiv in September this year.

Ten medical institutions from different parts of France have already become brotherly cities of Ukrainian hospitals from Kyiv, Lviv, Ternopil, and Uzhgorod.

"We expect a new wave of partnerships soon. The practice of direct in-depth cooperation between twin hospitals demonstrates its effectiveness. It allows medical specialists to regularly exchange experience and adopt best practices for the development of medical systems in both countries," the Ministry of Health emphasized.

Attention was also paid to the status of intergovernmental agreements on the purchase of 30 modern innovative mammography machines and the construction of modular departments in existing hospitals where patients will be provided with emergency care, in particular at the war-battered Borodianka Central District Hospital. Currently, both agreements are at the final stage of approval by all involved executive authorities.
