Russia has damaged over 90 historic monuments in Odesa in just five months

Since July of this year, 93 architectural monuments have been damaged by Russian attacks.

Oleksandr Kharlov, deputy head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, announced this during the "Edyni Novyny" marathon.

Kharlov noted that as a result of the Russian attack on November 5, 6 architectural monuments were damaged.

"These are, in particular, the Odesa National Art Museum, residential buildings, and buildings of the Odesa National Medical University, which is also an architectural monument," Kharlov clarified.

As for civil infrastructure, in just one night – from November 5 to 6, as a result of the criminal actions of the Russian Federation, 33 residential buildings were damaged, with almost 400 civilian apartments affected.

"Emergency recovery works are underway. People receive materials for the temporary covering of doors and windows – chipboard, film, and much more. Water and gas supply was restored during the day," he clarified.

Summing up the past week, the deputy head of the administration said that the Russian Federation attacked the Odesa region four times with missiles and attack drones. For the most part, the enemy's target is the port and near-port infrastructure, Kharlov added.

"As for the attack that took place on Friday, the Russians first attacked the Odesa region with rockets, after which they launched unmanned attack missiles of the Shahed type. The Odesa district was hit twice with rockets; the occupiers targeted the summer residences. Three people were injured, one of whom was hospitalized. But, thanks to our doctors, she was given the necessary help, and her life is not in danger at the moment," he said.

The authorities of Odesa are working on restoring damaged objects both in the city and the region, Kharlov informs.

"For example, in the summer, the Russians shelled the village of Chabanske in the Bilhorod-Dniester district. At that time, almost the entire village, 69 houses, was damaged. At the expense of the local and regional budgets and with the help of international partners, all houses, without exception, were restored before the onset of cold weather. Several families received financial assistance for the purchase of new housing. As for Odesa, for example, the Italians will undertake the restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral, for which we are very grateful. As for the housing fund, the victims of Odesa received financial assistance for repairing damaged property from the local and state budgets under the Recovery program," he said.
