Russian forces have killed 405 civilians in Kherson since liberation last year

November 11 marks one year since the right bank of the Kherson region was liberated from Russian forces.

The enemy troops killed 405 people, including ten children during the occupation, says local official Oleksandr Prokudin.

Another 1,705 people, including 72 children, were injured.

Since the liberation, law enforcement officers have recorded more than 18,000 criminal offences against peace, security and international law.

Three people were convicted in these cases, and 62 others were notified of suspicion. There were over 1,500 cases of abductions of Ukrainians, of whom at least 853 are still being held by Russian forces.

As for children deprived of parental care, 1,026 of them are currently in the occupied territories or in Russia. Ukraine managed to return 146 children.

"We all remember this day well, these emotions. How people greeted our military, how happy adults and children were. Many thanks to each of the soldiers who made this possible.

We remember everyone who gave their lives for the future of our country. Kherson and Kherson residents, thank you for your resilience and faith in Ukraine!" he stressed.

"11 November is the anniversary of the liberation of Kherson. The day when the Ukrainian army liberated the city from the Russian occupiers. I am grateful to our brave soldiers and local residents for their courage and resilience," the AFU chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi said in his Telegram post.

A year ago, Ukrainian forces launched a successful counter-offensive in the south, liberating the right-bank part of Kherson region.

The city was the only regional centre occupied by Russian troops since the start of the full-scale war on 24 February 2022.
