Ukrainian forces destroy newest Russian S-300B4 air defense system on southern front

Ukrainian soldiers from the Tavria grouping destroyed the latest Russian anti-aircraft missile system, S-300V4. 

General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group ing, announced on his Telegram channel that in the past day, Ukrainian troops in the southern front eliminated 46 units of military equipment, Rubryka reports.

These include two tanks, three armored fighting vehicles (AFVs), seven artillery systems, one anti-tank missile system, three anti-aircraft means, including the S-300V4 anti-aircraft missile system, 26 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), three automobiles, one piece of special equipment, and a munitions depot, and one "other important object."

Missile troops and artillery units from the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) "Tavria" executed 1,241 firing tasks, resulting in the Russian total losses of 542 troops.

On the Tavria front, the Russian forces conducted 23 airstrikes, engaged in 44 combat clashes, and carried out 888 rounds of artillery shelling.

Tarnavskyi highlighted that Ukrainian fighters resiliently held the defense in the Avdiivka direction.

Russian forces unsuccessfully attempted offensives in the areas of Keramichne, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severne, Mariinka, Novomykhailivka, Staromykhailivka, and southward of Preshystivka in the Donetsk region.

According to Tarnavskyi, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continued an offensive operation on the Melitopol front.

Russia's overall losses in the war in Ukraine as of Wednesday, November 9, amounted to 1,080 Russian occupiers, totaling 308,720 Russian military casualties since the invasion began. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed 36 artillery systems and neutralized 15 tanks.

About S-300V4 anti-aircraft missile system

The S-300V "Antey-300V" is a series of Soviet/Russian multi-channel anti-aircraft missile systems for air defense and missile defense. The S-300V4 air defense system was incorporated into Russia's arsenal in 2014.

The S-300V4 is the latest modernization of the S-300V air defense system, with declared capabilities to target ballistic and aerodynamic missiles within a range of up to 100 km and altitudes of up to 37 km.

Propagandists claimed that the S-300V system could supposedly hit targets up to 400 km away, simultaneously fire at 24 aerial targets, and guide up to 48 anti-aircraft missiles at them.
