Zelensky and Sierra Leone president reestablish diplomatic communication after 20-year hiatus
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had a telephone conversation with the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio. This is the first contact between the heads of the two states in 20 years.
Zelensky reported that on Telegram.
"I had a telephone conversation with the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio. I am glad to restore contact between our states at the highest level after a 20-year break," Zelensky wrote.
The President congratulated Sierra Leone on its election to the UN Security Council for 2024-2025 and expressed hope for continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
"We discussed our Peace Formula, the successful meeting of advisers in Malta, and the consolidation of support for our vision of peace among African countries, including on regional platforms. I spoke about the Grain From Ukraine initiative and invited him to the second summit, which will occur within its framework," Zelensky said.
