Cambridge University's Empower online platform for learning English has become available for Ukrainian universities, Rubryka reports.

What is the problem?

196 countries of the world have officially recognized English as a second language. It is the language of diplomacy, business, science, and other important fields.

Today, 1.5 billion people already know English, and about 1 billion are starting to learn it.

Ukraine's European integration aspirations also involve recognizing European standards in the field of language policy.

What is the solution?

Cambridge University's Empower online platform for learning English has become available to Ukrainian universities. Its launch is part of the support Cambridge has been providing to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression.

How does it work?

Empower is one of the first services presented within the national language program Future Perfect, which aims to popularize the English language in Ukraine.

The platform is not intended for independent language learning; it offers training courses that require a teacher or professor to master the language.

"Free access is open to Ukrainian universities and language providers regardless of their form of ownership. The platform contains Cambridge Empower training courses from A1 to C1 — a general English language course for adults and older teenagers that combines classroom materials and personalized online practice," said Ukraine's Ministry of Education. "For lecturers and teachers, Cambridge English Power offers flexible methods for working in the classroom: it emphasizes practical skills and requires active involvement of students."

Rubryka reported that the national project to popularize the English language, Future Perfect, is starting in Ukraine. The Future Perfect program provides products and services to help Ukrainians learn English in convenient and accessible formats.

We also reported that the network of educational and cultural spaces Honcharenko Center is launching free online English language courses for the elderly. Students over the age of 60 will be able to learn the language "from scratch" thanks to a specially designed training program.

It was also reported that the Ukrainian Institute launched the Insight UA English-language platform on Ukrainian culture for Independence Day.
