Zhytomyr region honors fallen athletes by planting "Forests of Heroes"

As part of the "Forests of Heroes" campaign, 17,000 oak and pine saplings were planted in the Berdychiv district of the Zhytomyr region in honor of fallen athletes.

The head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Bunechko, reported that on Facebook.

According to the regional leader, the Capital Forestry Office of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" has implemented the "Forests of Heroes" program to pay tribute to Ukrainian soldiers who lost their lives fighting against the invaders.

Bunecko reported that as part of this initiative, it is planned to plant more than 15 forest plots in honor of the fallen defenders, including:

• military personnel,
• law enforcement officers,
• rescuers,
• foresters,
• other residents of Ukrainian communities who contributed invaluable to Ukraine's future victory.

Bunechko noted that the day before, an event was organized to honor the athletes who gave their lives in the fight against the Russian occupiers.

"Today's "Forest of Heroes" was planted in honor of athletes who went to defend the independence of their state as part of Ukraine's armed forces and laid down their lives at the front in the fight against the Russian invaders," he emphasized.

The head of the regional military administration noted that as part of the campaign, about 17,000 oak and pine saplings were planted in the Berdychiv district.

Representatives of the regional branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and young athletes took part in this event. After all, it is the youth who will build Ukraine after the victory won by the courageous defenders.

"Forests of Heroes," according to the head of the region, will remind future generations of the extremely high price of freedom and independence.

"Let these young saplings grow as a symbol of our unity and strength, and let the "Forests of Heroes" remind us of the price of Freedom and devotion to our state," Bunechko summed up.

As Rubryka wrote earlier, more than fifty athletes came to the Ivano-Frankivsk region to take part in a seminar of the Association of Olympians of Ukraine and to join in the planting of a young forest.

Moreover, a new forest has been planted in the Kyiv region near the Hostomel airport with 4,500 oak and pine saplings.

In addition, the state enterprise Forests of Ukraine, together with communities and international partners, launched the Forest recovery program.
