Piranha AVD 360, a Ukrainian electronic warfare system for protecting armored vehicles from Russian drones developed by Piranha-Tech, has successfully passed field tests and is ready for mass production.

What is the problem?

"Smart" drones, including strike FPV ones, are increasingly being used by the occupiers to drop ammunition on civilians and the positions of the Ukrainian forces.

To control these drones, special radio channels are being created between the weapons and the operator. Countering drones is also based on disrupting this communication.

Ukraine uses electronic warfare systems to counter drone attacks, however severely lacks them.

The state does not have the capacities to produce these stations on the same scale and at the same speed as Russians do.

What is the solution?

The Cabinet of Ministers has recently changed the procedure for approving electronic warfare equipment, which will now be based on a joint departmental test report or on the results of a study of the declared tactical and technical characteristics.

This decision will speed up the delivery of electronic warfare systems to the military.

The Piranha AVD 360 electronic warfare system, developed by the Ukrainian company Piranha-Tech, has already been field tested, says the Digital Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

How does it work?

The Piranha AVD 360 is a unique electronic warfare system for strengthening Ukrainian forces to more effectively protect armored vehicles and personnel from enemy drones.

The system creates a protective dome up to 600 metres around it. An enemy copter or kamikaze drone cannot receive commands or transmit data.

The drone either hovers in midair, makes an emergency landing, or falls uncontrollably.

Piranha also jams satellite navigation systems such as Russia's GLONASS. The system is now ready for mass production.

This development was implemented through the Brave1 defense cluster of support for Ukrainian defence technologies.

Technology and innovation are the key to our victory. They help us to destroy the enemy more effectively and save the lives of our soldiers. If you are working on projects in the defence sector, submit them through Brave1, Fedorov reminded.

The electronic countermeasures against Russian drones, which can be installed on armoured vehicles, were purchased for the military by Ukrainian volunteers.
