Russian troops have attacked Ukraine with 243 Shahed drones and 24 missiles over the past month
According to the President's Office statistics, Russian forces fired 243 Iranian-made kamikaze drones, 15 X-59 missiles and nine cruise missiles at Ukraine in October.
The air defence forces managed to destroy almost all targets, including 228 Shahed drones, 11 guided missiles and eight cruise missiles.
On 2 November, the Ukrainian forces again shot down an enemy missile, as a fire broke out after the wreckage fell.
On 1 November, Russian forces tried to attack southern Odesa region once again, but the air defence forces thwarted the enemy's intentions and shot down two more X-59 missiles.
Over the past 20 months, the West has supplied Ukraine with a number of air defense systems, such as US-made Patriot and German IRIS-T, tanks equipped with anti-aircraft guns, and more than 2,000 Stinger man-portable missiles.
Last week, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that his government would provide Ukraine with three more batteries of modern air defense systems, including another Patriot system. This will be part of the "winter package" worth almost $1.5 billion.
The UK and other partner countries will provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems and mine clearance equipment.
On 26 October, the US announced a new military aid package worth $150 million to Ukraine.
The Pentagon clarified that the military aid package includes NASAMS and AIM-9 missiles.
