UN confirms Russia responsible for missile strike that claimed 59 lives in Ukrainian village of Hroza

The United Nations has confirmed the involvement of the Russian armed forces in a missile strike that killed 59 people in a cafe in the Ukrainian village of Hroza, Kharkiv region.

The spokeswoman of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights,  Liz Throssell, told reporters in Geneva, Reuters writes.

"Today we publish a report on the events of October 5, which concludes that there are reasonable grounds to believe that the Russian armed forces launched the missile," said the UN representative.

Throssell added that "at the time of the attack, there was no indication of the presence of military personnel or any other legitimate military targets in or near the cafe."

As reported, the Russian occupiers shelled the village of Hroza in the Kupiansk district around 1:25 p.m. They hit a village cafe-shop where a wake was held.

According to law enforcement officials, the Russians hit the cafe with an "Iskander-M" missile; its debris was removed from the scene of the tragedy.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, said that during the attack, there were residents in the store. Locals were also in the cafe, where the commemoration for a fellow villager was held. In total, there were about 60 people on the territory.

At the same time, the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, Volodymyr Tymoshko, reported that there was no military personnel in the shop-cafe at the time of the shelling.

The UN sent a group of experts to the village of Hroza, Kharkiv region.

Later, the Security Service of Ukraine managed to establish the identities of two traitors "on hot tracks" who had corrected a rocket attack on a cafe in the village.
