On October 27, a resolution condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine was adopted for the first time in Latin America.

The deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine [Ukraine's parliament – ed.], Olena Kondratiuk, stated this, quoted in a press release on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

The official mentioned the potential to add a separate statement into the declaration regarding:

  • expressing solidarity with Ukraine;
  • endorsing President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula;
  • denouncing Russian aggression.

"We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, who are suffering from unjustified, unprovoked Russian aggression. We call on all American countries to join the implementation of the Peace Formula to achieve a comprehensive, just, and durable peace in Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter," the declaration reads.

As reported, the declaration was adopted following the results of the Free America forum. For the first time in Latin America, there is a joint position of Christian Democratic parties with a clear condemnation of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

For reference:

At the beginning of July, President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Latin America and Argentina to support the Ukrainian Peace Formula.

As Rubryka wrote, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in his speech to the participants of the "Group of 20", presented Ukraine's algorithm for achieving peace with Russia, which includes 10 points.

Also, the Ukrainian formula for peace consists of guarantees of radiation, nuclear, food, and energy security.

Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen said his country supported the Ukrainian peace formula.

France can take the lead over the item of the Ukrainian peace formula that concerns nuclear security.

In turn, the Head of the European Commission stated that the peace formula should be the starting point for ending the war in Ukraine.

The European Union is also in favor of Ukraine's peace plan and suggests holding a summit to begin putting its points into action.

On August 31 in Toledo, during a press conference following the meeting of European ministers, EU High Representative Josep Borrell noted that the Peace Formula proposed by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky remains the only reliable basis for international efforts to find a just end to the war that was unleashed Russian Federation against Ukraine.
