Ukrainian army to continue destroying occupied airports, weapons and equipment of Russia – Ukraine's Permanent Mission to UN

Ukraine condemned Russia's violation of the use of the tools of the UN Security Council, which it convened to divert attention from war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Serhii Dvornyk, the adviser of the Mission of Ukraine to the UN, stated this at the Security Council meeting, writes Ukrinform.

"It is absolutely unacceptable to hastily demand the holding of meetings of the Security Council with the sole purpose of obstructing events planned and prepared by other members of the Security Council in advance," Dvornyk said.

He pointed to "cognitive dissonance" in the statements of Russian representatives.

As noted by the representative of Ukraine at the UN Security Council, the Russian Federation "consistently justifies the invasion by referring to the right to self-defense" and stating that "the decision was made by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations" which provides for the right of states to self-defense.

However, two days ago, Moscow, in the context of the war in Israel, referred to the decision of the International Court of Justice of the United Nations to prove that the right to self-defense cannot be applied in the case of an occupying state.

"And Russia is exactly such a state in relation to Ukraine," the diplomat emphasized.

According to him, Russia is not complying with the order of the International Court of Justice of the United Nations on March 16, 2022, to stop Russia's military actions in Ukraine.

He called Moscow's behavior "show, manipulation, hypocrisy and cynicism."

"A very pitiful show… trying to blame the victim of armed aggression for receiving means of protection, Russia has been receiving Iranian drones for more than a year and is now ready to kneel before the North Korean regime to beg for additional weapons and ammunition to continue the aggressive war against Ukraine," Dvornyk noted.

The adviser of the Ukrainian Mission to the UN said that Ukraine would continue to fight until every Ukrainian citizen and every piece of sovereign land is freed, and Russia is defeated in war.

"We will destroy airports… as happened on October 17 in occupied Berdшansk and Luhansk.

We will continue to destroy Russian equipment and soldiers, whom the Moscow generals send as cannon fodder for suicide attacks on the Ukrainian city of Avdiivka," the diplomat emphasized.

Dvornyk noted that the only correct decision for Russian soldiers in Ukraine would be either to surrender, "as many have already done," or to leave the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine "without any delay."

"And as long as they are in Ukraine, they will remain legitimate military targets," Dvornyk summed up.

For reference:

On the night of October 17, Ukrainian defense forces attacked helicopters and equipment of the Russian occupying forces at the airfields near the temporarily occupied Berdiansk and Luhansk.

Later, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces reported on the DRAGONFLY operation. Then, as a result of the attack of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the airfields, the Russian occupiers suffered significant losses: nine helicopters of various modifications, an ammunition depot, and an air defense installation were destroyed.

It also became known that American ATACMS missiles were used against the enemy.

As stated by Yuriy Ihnat, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, Ukraine must target the airfields of the Russian forces in Luhansk and Berdiansk. This is because those airfields are home to helicopters that often operate near the front lines and are capable of attacking our military equipment.
