Over 1 mln tons of cargo has been exported via Black sea corridor – Ukraine’s infrastructure ministry

Over 1.3 million metric tons of Ukrainian agricultural products and other cargo has been exported by 37 ships using the corridor in the Black Sea, the Infrastructure Ministry reports.

On October 27, four bulk carriers exported almost 130,000 tons of grain and 10,000 tons of metal to Africa, Asia and Europe. The vessels left the ports of Greater Odesa and are moving through the temporary Ukrainian corridor, the statement said.

At the same time, 11 civilian vessels called at the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi to load almost 225,000 tons of agricultural and metal products.

In total, 62 vessels used the entry corridor, 37 of which have already exported more than 1.3 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products and other cargo, the statement said.

In July, Russia announced that it was withdrawing from the grain deal due to alleged non-compliance with its terms. After that, the occupiers began shelling Ukrainian ports and grain infrastructure in southern Ukraine.

In August, Ukraine announced the opening of temporary corridors in the Black Sea for merchant ships.

The routes are primarily intended for the exit of civilian vessels that have been in the Ukrainian ports of Chornomorsk, Odesa, and Pivdennyi since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war.

On August 16, the first ship left the port of Odesa after the termination of the "grain deal" and arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, on August 18.

On September 26, it was reported that seven ships had already left Odesa ports through the temporary humanitarian corridor in the Black Sea. Ukraine has exported almost 700,000 tons of grain, mostly to Europe and Africa, during the operation of the temporary maritime corridor.
